About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a Store Manager for its Santa Rosa Store. This full-time position reports to the District Sales Manager and is responsible for meeting store sales and income budget expectations while managing expenses to maximize profitability. The Store Manager will also create a positive and mentoring environment for Beneficiaries (ARC rehabilitation program participants) by collaborating with program staff and implementing effective Work Therapy Assignments (WTA) to help Beneficiaries improve. The primary responsibility of the Store Manager is to be accountable for meeting the sales and income budget expectations while managing the expense controls to maximize profitability for the assigned location. This will be achieved through delivering desired results on the established key performance indicators prioritized to measure the success of the business. Plans and directs the day-to-day operations of the assigned store location. These routines include opening and closing procedures, point of sale operations, inventory management and rotation, ARC merchandising standards (CNO Standards), and donations. The Store Manager will hire, train, and direct the store team, ensuring proficiency in processes and responsible for development and performance coaching of all store employees. This includes issuing employee evaluations, key performance results, and corrective actions as needed, in coordination with the HR Generalist/Coordinator and District Sales Manager. Scheduling employees for appropriate coverage, coordinating daily team meetings, and reviewing/maintaining accurate employee payroll records are also key duties. Ensuring high levels of Customer and Donor satisfaction through excellent service and maintaining good community relations is crucial. The Store Manager will develop strategies to improve service and maximize the customer experience. Back Room Processing (BRP) efficiency, timely placement of inventory on the sales floor, and supervision/support of program Beneficiaries are also essential. The Store Manager is responsible for the protection and security of store currency, inventory, and property, including safe funds, bank deposits, products, equipment, and building security. This includes securing the building during non-operating hours and ensuring safety measures are established and maintained consistent with ARC policy and governmental regulations, reporting safety issues and incidents immediately. Conducting mandatory Weekly Store Meetings and attending ARC Monthly Safety Meetings are required. The Store Manager may be transferred or relocated to other stores based on business needs and will complete all tasks assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent (some college preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisor/management experience in a retail environment (thrift experience preferred).
  • Basic understanding of office applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid Driver’s license, successfully pass a MVR check, proof of insurance and access to a motor vehicle.
  • Must pass background check, which will include Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, store employees, customers, and donors.

  • Ensure Back Room Processing (BRP) is effective and efficient to meet daily processing goals.
  • Ensure all store deliveries/product are on the sales floor in a timely manner.
  • Provide supervision, support, and conduct reporting of program Beneficiaries if/when Work Therapy Assignments are in place.
  • Protect and secure store currency, inventory, and property, including safe funds, bank deposits, products, equipment, and building security.
  • Secure the building during non-operating hours with alarm system arming and alert protocol.
  • Establish and maintain safety measures consistent with ARC policy and governmental regulations, and report safety issues and incidents immediately.
  • Conduct and record mandatory Weekly Store Meetings.
  • Attend ARC Monthly Safety Meetings.
  • May transfer or be relocated to other stores based on business needs.
  • Complete all tasks assigned by management.
