About The Position

The Store Manager Trainee program prepares the employee to run an ALDI store through hands-on leadership experience. The trainee learns to manage operations, develop teams, and drive results while working alongside associates in a fast-paced environment. The role combines leadership responsibilities with active participation in daily store operations, including stocking, merchandising, customer service, and maintaining store standards. Trainees train at multiple locations and must be flexible to travel within divisional requirements.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Prior experience in a retail environment and prior management experience.
Ability to develop rapport, trust, and open communication to enhance direct reports’ performance.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to lead store personnel and achieve planned results.
Ability to understand and apply management principles to achieve store goals and compliance expectations.
Ability to perform leadership and administrative duties.
Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.
Ability to operate store equipment, including cash registers, floor scrubbers, cardboard balers, pallet jacks, handheld devices, and computers, and perform operational tasks effectively and efficiently.
Ability to facilitate group involvement when conducting meetings.
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external parties.
Ability to interpret and apply ALDI operating policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete activities to maximize available time.
Ability to establish and successfully execute plans and goals.
Ability to use ALDI-provided technology as required.
May be required to handle and sell alcoholic beverages and meet applicable state and local requirements.
May be required to obtain ServSafe certification or other applicable state or local certifications for food safety compliance.
Must be flexible to travel within divisional requirements and train at multiple locations.

Responsibilities

Communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports, and lead and develop store personnel.
Develop and implement action plans using company-provided resources to improve operating results.
Oversee the appropriate resolution of employee and customer concerns, aligning with the district manager as needed.
Interview candidates for store positions and provide recommendations to the district manager.
Manage personnel, including recommending personnel for advancement and termination as appropriate.
Communicate and interact effectively with ALDI personnel at all levels, customers, third-party vendors, and business partners.
Collaborate to resolve store issues and minimize potential liability for the division and company.
Lead, develop, and supervise the team to develop sales, engage teams, satisfy customers, and achieve consistent high performance.
Understand and oversee execution of company strategy while communicating and modeling organizational core values.
Foster a positive, collaborative working environment and promote teamwork.
Oversee compliance with store policies and procedures and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Train and develop store personnel using appropriate training materials.
Observe and evaluate employee performance and provide feedback and coaching.
Ensure store personnel follow customer service guidelines and interact appropriately with customers and coworkers.
Resolve concerns from store personnel and customers independently or escalate them to the district manager as necessary.
Model, communicate, and supervise compliance with company policies and procedures.
Maintain a safe working environment by identifying and correcting hazards, promoting proper ergonomics, and keeping equipment in proper working order.
Prepare, manage, and revise weekly schedules for accuracy.
Ensure personnel follow expense guidelines, inventory procedures, product handling, and cash handling policies to minimize losses.
Ensure store personnel maintain store zone and merchandising standards.
Improve operational results and implement personnel and operational plans to achieve store KPI goals and budgets.
Attend and participate in district weekly operations calls, monthly one-to-ones, and training sessions.
Plan and conduct store team meetings, monthly management team meetings, training sessions, and other company-related meetings or events.
Participate in daily store operations, including stocking, merchandising, customer service, and maintaining store standards.
