About The Position

The Store Manager in Training (SMIT) is a development-focused role designed to prepare the employee for a CVS Store Manager position. The 16-week, self-paced and collaborative program includes virtual and hands-on learning experiences, supported by a District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach. The role combines leadership development with supporting the store management team and delivering customer service, merchandising, inventory, and asset management. Selection does not guarantee promotion; promotion depends on factors including performance and available openings. The employee must be willing to accept a Store Manager promotion anywhere in the designated market and transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores within that market. The work schedule may vary based on business needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Retail management experience or experience as a CVS Supervisor.
Willingness to accept a Store Manager promotion at any location in the designated market.
Ability to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores within the designated market.
Ability to work a schedule that may vary based on business needs.

Nice To Haves

A four-year college degree is preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Responsibilities

Actively engage with a leader in Key Learning Experiences during the structured development program.
Support the store as a member of the management team and lead in a manner consistent with CVS values and policies.
Engage colleagues in support of the company's purpose of helping people on their path to better health.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to support and lead the team.
Perform customer care duties and provide high levels of service.
Execute merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
Manage store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.
