About The Position

The Store Manager in Training (SMIT) is a development-focused role designed to prepare colleagues for a CVS Store Manager position. The 16-week, self-paced and collaborative training program includes virtual and hands-on learning experiences, supported by a District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach. The role develops leadership skills in communication, customer care, merchandising, inventory management, and asset management. SMITs support the store as members of the management team and lead in accordance with CVS values and policies. Participation in the program does not guarantee promotion; promotion depends on factors including performance and available openings. Candidates must be willing to accept a Store Manager promotion anywhere in their designated market and transfer between CVS Pharmacy stores in that market. Schedules may vary based on business needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Retail management experience or experience as a CVS Supervisor.
Willingness to accept a Store Manager promotion at any location in the designated market.
Ability to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores within the designated market.
Ability to work a schedule that may vary based on business needs.

Nice To Haves

A four-year college degree; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Responsibilities

Actively engage with a leader in Key Learning Experiences during the structured training program.
Support the store as a member of the management team and lead consistently with CVS values and policies.
Engage colleagues in support of CVS’s purpose of helping people on their path to better health.
Communicate verbally and in writing to support and lead the team.
Perform customer care duties to provide high levels of service.
Execute merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
Manage store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.
