About The Position

The Store Manager in Training (SMIT) is a development-focused role designed to prepare the employee for a CVS Store Manager position. The 16-week, self-paced and collaborative program includes virtual and hands-on learning, supported by a District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach. The role supports the store as a member of the management team while developing leadership, customer care, merchandising, inventory, and asset-management skills. Participation does not guarantee promotion; promotion depends on factors including performance and the availability of openings. Candidates must be willing to accept a Store Manager promotion at any location in the designated market and transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores in that market. Schedules may vary according to business needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Willingness to accept a promotion to a Store Manager role at any location in the designated market.
Ability to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores within the designated market.
Ability to work a schedule that may vary based on business needs.

Nice To Haves

Four-year college degree, or relevant work experience in lieu of a college degree.
Retail management experience or experience as a CVS Supervisor.

Responsibilities

Participate actively in Key Learning Experiences with a leader during the structured development program.
Support the store as a member of the management team and lead in accordance with CVS values and policies.
Engage colleagues in support of the company's purpose of helping people on their path to better health.
Communicate verbally and in writing to support and lead the team.
Perform customer care duties and provide high levels of service.
Execute merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
Manage store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.
