The Store Manager in Training position at O'Reilly Auto Parts is designed to provide hands-on experience and training to prepare individuals for a future management role within the company, either in another existing store or a new location. Key responsibilities include supervising both professional operations, such as delivery and installer service specialists, and retail operations, involving parts and merchandising specialists. The Manager in Training will work collaboratively with the district manager and store manager on human resources functions like recruiting, testing, hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining, and discharging team members. They are also responsible for communicating important company information, training new team members, conducting performance evaluations, and recommending pay increases. Additionally, the role supports the store manager in ensuring safety compliance and providing appropriate training to all team members, monitoring safety expectations, and participating in sales calls. Operational duties extend to managing the delivery fleet, maintaining vehicle records, ensuring store cleanliness and organization, and learning to utilize electronic systems for scheduling, timekeeping, and payroll. The individual will also gain experience in managing gross profit components, monitoring customer returns for core and warranty issues, reviewing competitive pricing, analyzing team member productivity, and discussing monthly P&L statements with the store manager to identify areas for improvement.
