About The Position

Assists with the management, leadership, and operations of a retail store and donation center. This role involves developing operational and leadership skills necessary to perform the duties of a Store Manager. The position directs activities to ensure net performance provides satisfactory financial support for the organization by managing sales and production, controlling expenses and payroll budgets, handling personnel issues, accounting, merchandising, loss prevention, and staff development. The Store Manager in Training supports the Store Manager in interviews, hiring, and onboarding new hires, and ensures all employees are trained and developed in their job positions, attending all required orientations and classes. The role also involves confirming daily sales reports and cash receipts, ensuring timely deposits, and submitting reports as prescribed. Coordination of shipments and adjustments to ensure adequate product for sales goals is required. The position includes opening and closing the retail store, performing administrative and clerical duties, making bank deposits, and securing the building. Responsibilities also include issuing refunds, resolving customer complaints, and ensuring prompt, courteous service to customers and donors. Managing the production of donated goods to achieve maximum sales potential, rotating, categorizing, and arranging merchandise, and performing work of store personnel as needed are key duties. Maintaining and motivating a positive sales team through communication, incentives, and evaluations, and reporting security or theft problems are also part of the role. The Store Manager in Training supervises store personnel and activities in the absence of and at the direction of the Store Manager, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with agency policies. This includes assisting with interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, resolving problems, and budget management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years of retail management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver's License (Class C), car insurance and reliable automobile.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to other retail locations within and outside of assigned home district.
  • Develop operational and leadership skills necessary to perform the duties of a Store Manager.
  • Direct activities verbally, written and physically for retail store to ensure that net performance provides satisfactory financial support for the organization by managing sales and production, controlling expenses and payroll budgets, handling personnel issues, accounting, merchandising, loss prevention and development of staff.
  • Support the Store Manager in interviews, hiring, and completing onboarding process for all new hires.
  • Ensure all employees are trained and developed in their job position.
  • Ensure all employees attend all orientations and classes required by training department.
  • Confirm daily sales reports and cash receipts; ensure monies are deposited regularly, and reports are submitted as prescribed Agency policies.
  • Coordinate shipments and make adjustments to ensure store has adequate product to achieve all sales goals.
  • Open and close the retail store and perform all administrative and clerical duties including making bank deposits and securing the building at the direction of the Store Manager and in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Issue refunds and resolve customer complaints.
  • Ensure that customers and donors receive prompt, courteous service.
  • Manage the production of donated goods to achieve maximum sales potential in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Rotate, categorize, and arrange merchandise by color according to established guidelines.
  • Perform work of store personnel as needed.
  • Maintain and motivate a positive sales team through communication, incentives, and evaluations.
  • Report known or suspected security and/or theft problems to the Store Manager or other member of management.
  • Supervise store personnel and store activities in the absence of /and at the direction of the Store Manager.
  • Report the need for building and equipment repairs and replacements to the Store Manager and/or Retail Operations Director or Area Operations Director.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by the Store Manager and/or Retail Operations Director or Area Operations Director.
