About The Position

The Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, including employee supervision, staffing, inventory management, stocking and receiving, paperwork, and other store needs. The position provides interactive development for an external candidate for the Store Manager role and is intended to be held for a limited period. The candidate assists with store operations and may operate the store in the Store Manager’s absence. Responsibilities include supporting recruiting and staffing, merchandising, inventory control, ordering, customer service, store safety and cleanliness, cash controls, and completion of paperwork and documentation. The candidate also reviews operating statements to identify business trends and opportunities for expense control.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, cashier accountability and deposit controls.
Ability to learn and perform cash-register functions, including functions used to generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory-management and merchandising practices.
Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Proficient interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and handle varied situations where limited standardization exists.
Two or more years of experience in a leadership or managerial position.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
Two or more years of experience in a retail grocery store is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with recruiting and staffing activities.
Support merchandising, including staging, stocking, storing and presenting merchandise according to established practices and the Store Manager’s direction; properly use fixtures, signs and pricing.
Assist with inventory management, including damages, markdowns, register scanning, paperwork and facility controls; prepare and conduct inventories.
Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
Model compliance with Company procedures and policies.
Participate in store opening and closing activities.
Ensure Company funds are deposited safely at the designated bank.
Support store financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices and cash-control procedures.
Help maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
Operate the store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Review operating statements to identify business trends, expense-control opportunities, potential shrink and errors.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
