About The Position

Macy's is offering an 8-week paid Store Management Internship Program from June 8 to August 1, 2026, available nationwide in major market stores. This on-site program provides exposure to all aspects of store leadership, including customer service, merchandising, business analysis, visual presentation, store operations, colleague development, human resources, and asset protection. Interns will work as key players on a store leadership team, learning the complexities of a multi-million-dollar retail department store and collaborating on solutions. The program offers a firsthand introduction to strategies and partnerships for success in a fast-paced retail environment.

Requirements

  • Currently in your junior year, on your way to earning a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • A cumulative 3.0 GPA minimum is preferred.
  • All majors will be considered.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel.
  • Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms.
  • Requires close vision.
  • Self-motivated with a Positive Attitude: Consistently taking the initiative to tackle new challenges and maintaining a positive outlook even in difficult situations.
  • Sincere Passion for Engaging with People: Possess the communication and organizational skills to match.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to gain insights into leadership best practices and receive continuous constructive feedback.
  • Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product merchandising initiatives that enhance business performance.
  • Engage with leaders across various business functions within the store and region.
  • Learn to develop a customer-focused selling environment by coaching and developing a team of colleagues.
  • Learn to support and ensure smooth daily store operations by training and coaching colleagues.
  • Analyze trends with business partners to select merchandise that better meets customer needs.
  • Explore retail strategies by diving into the analytical side of the business to understand big-picture retail strategies.
  • Be part of a performance-oriented team that values collaboration and skills development.
  • Take advantage of daily opportunities to innovate, test and implement ideas.
  • Demonstrate learning through a project and presentation, consulting with store leadership to propose new ideas for business growth.
  • Strengthen relationships and ensure authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
