The associate is responsible for overseeing vendors bringing merchandise in and out of the store, receiving, checking, counting, and recording all incoming and outgoing merchandise. This role involves comparing identifying information and verifying counts against records, promoting excellent customer relations by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving concerns promptly. The position focuses on continuous improvement within the department, ensuring product is in saleable condition, and executing the reclamation process for damaged or out-of-code merchandise. Additionally, the associate will contact vendors to request product or service, communicate merchandising expectations, reduce shrink by minimizing waste and damages, and maintain backroom and receiving area security, sanitation, and organization using 5S procedures. Safety standards and the proper use of equipment are paramount. The role also includes general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and guidelines to meet health and OSHA requirements. Responsibilities may extend to assisting with unloading deliveries using power or hand jacks, baling cardboard, and utilizing company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The associate may also be called upon to assist in other departments.
