About The Position

The Store Director (Store Manager) role involves leading a team to help families discover the joy of everyday life. This position focuses on developing leaders who care about their teams, guests, and each other. The Store Director leads a team of experts, advocates, and consultants passionate about guest satisfaction and takes accountability for running a profitable growth business. Target believes in providing meaningful experiences for leaders to build and develop skills for a career. This role offers opportunities to gain experience in managing large teams, recruiting, talent management, guest service, retail business financials, developing store-specific strategies, understanding retail business fundamentals, setting quarterly business priorities, and making informed business decisions.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience

  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
  • Climb up and down ladders as needed
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others
  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)

  • Leverage reports (financial, operational, safety, food safety, team, and guest) to understand the business and make decisions.
  • Lead a culture of financial accountability by monitoring sales trends, leadership headcount, payroll, and overtime.
  • Assess competition and leverage guest insights to drive the business and be the destination of choice.
  • Build community relationships to address local needs.
  • Leverage field support partners to solve problems and drive operational improvement.
  • Set clear priorities for the team by balancing competing demands.
  • Own the safety culture and performance by modeling safe behaviors, identifying hazards, assisting with incident response, and ensuring effective investigations.
  • Validate an instore security culture by focusing on deterrence, response, and resolution.
  • Validate merchandise protection strategies are executed according to best practices.
  • Address all store emergency and compliance needs.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, and hold the team accountable.
