Store Designer (3D Design)

Canadian Tire CorporationToronto, ON
$50,000 - $60,000Hybrid

About The Position

We are looking for a 3D Designer to join our Store Design team, where creativity meets strategy. This role plays a key part in shaping the look and feel of our stores, contributing to innovative store concepts, custom fixture design, and a wide range of strategic initiatives across the organization. As a 3D Designer on the Store Design team, you will work on high volume, fast paced projects that directly impact the in-store customer experience. You’ll collaborate with cross functional partners while also taking ownership of projects from concept through final production. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated designer looking to grow their skills, develop sound judgment, and evolve into an independent, strategic thinker. A successful candidate is a self starter who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys solving problems creatively. You are comfortable working independently but value collaboration and open dialogue. You understand that priorities can change quickly and are able to stay focused on the end goal—even when the plan shifts mid day.

Requirements

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating 3D rendering design proficiency, particularly in SketchUp, Revit, Enscape and other industry leading software.
  • Solid design acumen and conceptual ability driven by strong visual aesthetic and current design trends.
  • Comfort working in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of work with attention to detail and consistency.
  • Creative, curious, and eager to learn.
  • Able to think differently and propose new solutions.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a changing environment.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and limited direction.
  • Resourceful, with the initiative (“gumption”) to seek out answers independently.
  • Confident presenting and defending ideas, while understanding that feedback and alignment are part of the process.
  • Has their own point of view and voice, yet understands that decision making is not always democratic.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting national rollouts or multi‑banner retail environments.
  • Familiarity with working alongside architects, engineers, and external vendors.
  • Exposure to cost optimization, value engineering, or design standardization.

Responsibilities

  • Concept Development & 3D Design: Drive the development of innovative retail concepts and strategic initiatives across multiple banners.
  • Create detailed 3D store layouts, fixture designs, and spatial concepts that balance creativity, functionality, and scalability.
  • Produce custom fixture design documentation, outlining materials, construction details, and fabrication methods using 3D software.
  • Collaboration & Execution: Collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners, external design and architectural firms, fixture vendors, and skilled trades.
  • Support the delivery of comprehensive retail layouts and structural floorplans for business categories and store initiatives.
  • Provide visual merchandising and onsite execution support for new concepts and ongoing store enhancements.
  • Project & Budget Management: Manage design budgets related to materials, fixtures, construction, and installation.
  • Balance creative ambition with cost considerations, constructability, and operational constraints.
  • Presentation & Stakeholder Engagement: Present and confidently stage design concepts to a wide range of stakeholders, including Dealers, AVPs, VPs, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Translate complex design ideas into clear, compelling visual and verbal narratives.
  • Continuous Improvement & Scale: Conduct post‑mortem analysis to identify opportunities to de‑engineer designs for broader national rollout and economies of scale.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency as project volume and complexity grow.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and initiative by proactively seeking information, feedback, and solutions.
  • Ways of Working: Work independently while contributing meaningfully to team discussions, critiques, and design sessions.
  • Adapt quickly to compressed timelines and shifting priorities in a fast‑paced retail environment.
