About The Position

At Families in Transition, we’re on a mission to Prevent and Break the Cycle of Homelessness. Our mission moves us to empower people and we do that by providing dignified housing, by delivering comprehensive and innovative solutions, by developing collaborative relationships with our clients and partners, and by creating opportunities for donors and volunteers committed to making a difference where they live and work. Families in Transition is currently looking for a Store Associate to join our team! The Store Associate is responsible for supporting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager(s) in the daily operations of the OutFITters Thrift Store. The primary role is to greet customers, respond to questions, improve engagement with merchandise, operate cash registers, manage financial transactions, and provide outstanding customer service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a positive, enthusiastic, and motivating presence at all times.
  • Ensure the store is clean, safe, and presentable for customers.
  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone.
  • Maintain clutter free, clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Immediately correct or report any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
  • Treat all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; be always friendly and professional.
  • Assist Customers, be register-trained, assist Customers with merchandise, and answer Customer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner.
  • Greet all Customers by making eye contact, smiling, and saying “hello” throughout the Store as well as saying “thank you” with every register transaction.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customers at all times.
  • Respond to Customer Service calls immediately.
  • Handle all Customer issues in a courteous and helpful way, calling a member of the Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company dress code at all times.
  • Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery per company best practice to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and efficiently merchandised to standards.
  • As a representative of Families in Transition – New Horizon’s demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions with Associates and Customers.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follow all policies and procedures concerning cash, check, charge card and refund transactions, voids, and offline procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness and accuracy when handling bankable tenders.
  • Ensure security of building and safe keeping of all building keys.
