About The Position

Tanco Engineering is seeking a Storage Tank Design Detailer at its fabrication facility in Loveland, Colorado. The position provides design and drafting support for aboveground storage tanks and storage tank repair parts, helping project managers, shop personnel, and field crews carry projects from concept through construction. The detailer is expected to work independently with minimal supervision, apply relevant tank codes and standards, interpret client specifications, and maintain and improve the company’s storage tank drawings and related tools.

Requirements

At least 5 years of drafting or detailing experience.
Ability to work independently and perform a wide range of tasks with minimal supervision.
Technical expertise in API 650, API 653, API 620, AWWA D100, OSHA, NFPA, and related standards.
Sound math skills, including calculating geometry and trigonometry parameters without relying on CAD layout.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with field and shop personnel, management, and project managers.
Basic understanding of Excel spreadsheets.

Nice To Haves

AutoCAD experience.
Flat-bottom tank detailing experience in accordance with API 650 and API 653.

Responsibilities

Provide design and drafting support for aboveground storage tanks and storage tank repair parts to project managers, shop personnel, and field crews.
Answer field foremen’s questions about code issues, drawing discrepancies, weld spacing, and material types.
Interpret client specifications and implement them in tank drawings, ensuring compliance with tank standard details.
Support the shop manager by posting burn table drawings as needed.
Use and help continuously improve Tanco’s storage tank drawings and related tools.
Work harmoniously with field and shop personnel, management, and project management staff.
