About The Position

GDIT is looking for a Storage Engineer to join our National Institutes of Health (NIH) CIT Hosting and Storage Services Program. This is a HYBRID role - 3 days on customer site in Bethesda MD. This role will require you to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and will require you to provide onsite fingerprinting at a designated facility. This investigation may review personal and criminal behavior, financial conduct, foreign influence, as well as other adjudications.

Requirements

BS/BA or equivalent combination of education and experience
6 years supporting SAN/NAS storage and backup environments
Experience with provisioning, replication, and performance checks
Skilled in storage documentation
Experience with documentation, effectively sharing insights, and developing standard operating procedures
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

Nice To Haves

AWS Solutions Architect certification
AWS Advanced Networking certification
Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and application teams, to ensure storage architecture meets project requirements and organizational standards
Hands-on experience with key AWS services, including S3, EC2, VPC, and Lambda, for automation and infrastructure management
Strong knowledge of data replication, synchronization, and backup/restore processes across hybrid cloud environments
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex requirements and deliver effective solutions
Ability to effectively communicate

Responsibilities

Support SAN/NAS storage and backup environments
Manages storage provisioning, backups, and recovery
Performs storage troubleshooting and capacity tracking
Updates storage documentation and baselines
Data replication, synchronization, and backup/restore processes across hybrid cloud environments
Provide guidance and training to internal teams on storage best practices, backup, recovery, and DR procedures
