About The Position

The Stockroom Manager is responsible for leading all stockroom and inventory control operations to ensure the accurate, efficient, and secure management of materials that support plant operations. This role is accountable for maintaining inventory accuracy, overseeing receiving and material transactions, and ensuring timely material availability while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory. The Stockroom Manager establishes standardized processes, drives continuous improvement initiatives, implements inventory control technologies such as barcode systems, and develops a high-performing stockroom team. Through effective inventory management, operational discipline, and collaboration with Procurement and Operations, this position supports production reliability, cost reduction, and overall business performance while ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, stockroom management, or materials management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience managing stockroom or warehouse personnel.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control principles, cycle counting, physical inventories, inventory reconciliation, and inventory optimization.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar)
  • Experience implementing and managing barcode scanning systems and inventory automation technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze inventory data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of receiving, shipping, material handling, and warehouse best practices.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S/6S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to analyze and present operational data.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage changing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of purchasing, procurement processes, and supply chain operations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage obsolete, slow-moving, and excess inventory through regular reviews and disposition planning.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical inventories, audits, and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies.
  • Oversee receiving operations to ensure receipt accuracy, verify quantities against purchase orders, and resolve discrepancies with suppliers and Procurement.
  • Ensure accurate material transactions, including receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments, and returns.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for inventory management, receiving, issuing, and material handling.
  • Manage all daily stockroom operations to ensure efficient material flow and inventory availability.
  • Enforce stockroom security by implementing and maintaining strict stockroom access controls and lockdown procedures.
  • Supervise, train, and develop stockroom personnel while establishing performance expectations and ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with Procurement to prevent stockouts, reduce excess inventory, and optimize inventory investment.
  • Analyze inventory trends, identify root causes of inventory variances, and implement corrective actions to improve inventory performance.
  • Coordinate annual physical inventories
  • Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for inventory accuracy, receiving performance, service levels, and stockroom productivity.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory control and warehouse organization.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, housekeeping standards (6S), and company operating procedures throughout the stockroom.
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of barcode inventory systems to improve inventory accuracy, traceability, and transaction efficiency.
