About The Position

The Stockroom Lead is a working, hands-on supervisor responsible for leading the daily activities of both the stockroom and warehouse while actively participating in department operations. This role maintains accurate inventory control, organizes and directs stockroom and warehouse workflow, and ensures materials and parts are received, stored, picked, issued, staged, and delivered to the production floor in time to support the manufacturing schedule. The Stockroom Lead oversees stockroom and warehouse personnel and works closely with Planning, Purchasing, Production, and other departments to address shortages, resolve inventory discrepancies, prioritize material needs, coordinate inbound and outbound material flow, and keep work moving according to schedule. The successful individual leads by example, works alongside the team, and remains accountable for stockroom accuracy, responsiveness, safety, and 6S.

Requirements

  • Understanding of Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) systems, experience with Epicor preferred.
  • Strong understanding of stockroom and warehouse operations, receiving, shipping, inventory control, material flow, production scheduling support, replenishment, and methods such as FIFO and JIT.
  • Thorough knowledge of cycle counting procedures, physical inventory reconciliation, and root-cause analysis for variances.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, material handling safety practices, and general warehouse compliance standards.
  • Ability to manipulate and interpret spreadsheet data (primarily Advanced Excel, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables) to track turnover rates and spot trends.
  • Proven ability to serve as a working supervisor who can lead, train, delegate, schedule, and work alongside stockroom and warehouse employees to meet daily material and shipping requirements.
  • Strong capability to investigate discrepancies, locate missing stock, correct transaction errors, resolve workflow bottlenecks, and respond quickly to production material needs.
  • Exceptional attention to detail in maintaining accurate ERP records, inventory transactions, part locations, traceability, and physical stockroom organization.
  • Ability to quickly perform calculations regarding stock counts, weight limits, volume capacities, and cost variations.
  • Ability to communicate inventory variances, material shortages, priorities, and schedule risks clearly to management, production personnel, and stockroom employees.
  • Ability to adjust priorities and direct hands-on support during schedule changes, shortages, urgent production needs, supply disruptions, or system issues.
  • High School Diploma / Ged or equivalent work experience in a related area.
  • Previous hands-on stockroom, warehouse, receiving, shipping, material handling, or inventory control experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside stockroom and warehouse employees as a hands-on, working supervisor, providing daily leadership while directly supporting receiving, stocking, picking, issuing, staging, shipping, material movement, and related departmental activities.
  • Supervise daily warehouse operations, including receiving, inspection handoff, put-away, storage, staging, shipping, and movement of materials, while ensuring transactions and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Plan, assign, prioritize, and follow up on daily stockroom and warehouse work to ensure parts and materials are received, processed, stored, staged, and delivered to the production floor in accordance with manufacturing schedules and changing production priorities.
  • Monitor material requirements, shortages, kit status, and stockroom queues; communicate risks promptly and coordinate with Planning, Purchasing, Production, and other departments to prevent avoidable schedule delays.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through disciplined receiving, labeling, location control, material transactions, cycle counting, physical inventory, reconciliation, and timely correction of discrepancies.
  • Investigate inventory variances, missing parts, incorrect quantities, and transaction errors; identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure kits and material requests are complete, accurate, properly documented, and staged or delivered to the correct production area when needed.
  • Train, schedule, direct, and support stockroom and warehouse personnel; set clear expectations, monitor workflow, and provide immediate coaching on procedures, quality, safety, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Maintain orderly, secure, and efficient stockroom and warehouse areas using appropriate receiving, shipping, material handling, inventory control, traceability, FIFO, ESD, and other applicable requirements.
  • Use the ERP system and supporting inventory tools to review demand, process transactions, track material movement, analyze shortages, and produce accurate inventory and audit reports.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying workflow bottlenecks, improving material flow, reducing waste and loss, and strengthening stockroom procedures and controls.
  • Actively participate in quality initiatives, problem solving, process improvement, and performance measurement.
  • Understand and follow company policies, manufacturing procedures, safety requirements, and 6S standards; ensure the stockroom team follows the same requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support stockroom, warehouse, inventory, shipping, receiving, and production needs.
