Requirements

Follow written and verbal instructions with confidence
Use basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages
Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way
Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy store environment
High school diploma or equivalent required
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas
Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties

Up to six months of similar or related work experience preferred

Responsibilities

Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and helping them find what they need throughout the store
Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and passing along any feedback or requests to the team
Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate product to ensure freshness
Monitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and wrong deliveries, and report issues accordingly
Organize stock for greatest efficiency and clean and restock any damaged items
Tag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers
Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input
Operate the register for customer purchases as needed
Stock supplies including cigarettes, front-end sacks, and department supplies
Assist with outside maintenance including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and returning carts
Help with cleaning throughout the store including registers, restrooms, breakroom, and backroom
Train new stockers on job duties as needed
Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed
