About The Position

The individuals who perform this job provide extraordinary shopping experiences to our guests and exceptional service at the time of checkout. This role involves operating a cash register, handling transactions, assisting guests, and maintaining the store environment. The job requires adherence to company mission and values, maintaining a professional appearance, and providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities include suggestive selling, managing merchandise, and ensuring accurate pricing. The role also involves stocking shelves, preparing for inventory, and carrying out management directives. Teamwork, time management, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Safety regulations and attendance are also critical aspects of this position.

Requirements

• Must be over the age of 21.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos.
• Ability to communicate with and understand coworkers and guests.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in both whole numbers and in fractions and decimals.
• Ability to calculate discounts and percentages.

• Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic who completes job assignments in a timely fashion and then looks for the next task.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Must maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit.
• In some cases, must maintain a valid Food Handlers Permit.
• Must have open availability.
• Able to lift 30 or more pounds.
• Must be able to work Fridays and Saturdays.
• Must be available to work any shift on Friday or Saturday.
• Must be available 80% or more of all shifts each week.

Responsibilities

• Know and actively demonstrate, daily, our Company Mission Statement and Core Values.
• Maintain uniform standard, as detailed in the Employee Manual, for all worked hours.
• Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor, use our Guest Services script based on the division in which they serve.
• Operate cash register or electronic scanner and look up products as needed to access UPC codes or prices.
• Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode.
• Properly use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment.
• Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add-on items, including the charity of the month.
• Monitor merchandise brought to the register by stockers so that the accurate amounts are charged to the guest.
• Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required.
• Kindly ask the guest to read and answer the pin pad question before starting the transaction. Never answer the pin pad questions for the guest.
• If necessary, check acceptable identification, use 36 sign-in, to ensure you make the legal sale. Use best practices and always be professional when checking IDs.
• Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.
• Issue receipts and any change due.
• Accurately count change back to the guest.
• Bag or box merchandise.
• Assist with carry-outs when needed and feasible.
• Compute and record totals of all transactions on daily record sheet.
• Call the code for a cash drop as soon as the limit has been reached in order to maintain proper till balance.
• Keep work area clean and neat and do not overstock counter with merchandise.
• Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.
• Answer questions and provide information to guests.
• May resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.
• Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
• Avoid use of personal cell phone while on the sales floor.
• Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.
• Monitor checkout station, making sure all needed tools such as register paper and paper bags are in stock.
• Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
• Carry out directives of management efficiently.
• Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
• Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
• Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
• Stand for most of shift, bend and walk occasionally. Use arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift. Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally using proper lifting techniques and tools. Push and/or pull 50-100 pounds or more occasionally. Communicate with and understand team members and guests. See product and payment methods.
• Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
• Other projects and tasks assigned by management.
• Attendance and timeliness are required.

• The TABC course takes 2-3 hours to complete, and we will pay you for your time spent in the course up to 3 hours.

• We will deduct the cost of the course from your paycheck ($8) so you do not need to pay for the course up front.
