About The Position

The QC Chemist has the authority to perform all tasks and duties as assigned. This role involves performing analytical testing on products using established quality control procedures, utilizing computer techniques for analysis and data entry, and maintaining proficiency in QC procedures for all stock products. The chemist is responsible for sample preparation, wet assay methods, reagent preparation, proper waste disposal, and the continuous use of safe laboratory equipment and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field or a combination of education and/or experience to meet the requirements for the position
  • Minimum of two years previous job-related work experience
  • Working knowledge of the periodic table, laboratory equipment usage and of lab safety practices
  • Proficient in basic algebra
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • The ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision
  • The ability to follow established policies, procedures and guidelines
  • PC proficiency with a working knowledge of computers and good data entry skills

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in Chemistry
  • Prior quality control and/or job-related experience
  • Administer a color blindness test if position will be responsible for titrations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical testing on products as directed by the Stock Production Supervisor using established quality control procedures.
  • Utilize computer techniques for analysis, simulation of information systems, data entry, statistical analysis, and record keeping procedures of electronic lab notebooks and QC records.
  • Maintain proficiency in QC procedures for all stock products to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products.
  • Use and perform daily maintenance of ICPs, ICs’, UV Spectrometer, pH meter, Turbidimeter, conductivity meter, balances and glassware.
  • Perform sample preparation, wet assay methods and reagent preparation for testing of products.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste according to all Federal, State, and Local laws.
  • Practice continuous use of safe laboratory equipment and practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
