About The Position

As the Stock Manufacturing Lead at Weatherby, you'll guide stock production from raw materials through assembly-coaching your team to produce high-quality stocks while meeting production goals. With a focus on efficiency, safety, and craftsmanship, you'll ensure every stock reflects Weatherby's high standards. The Stock Manufacturing Lead supervises the manufacturing of Weatherby rifle stocks. This role oversees sanding, blemish repair, 3DHex Recoil Pad installation, curing, and inspection. The Lead is responsible for coaching and developing team members, maintaining workflow efficiency, and ensuring Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost KPIs are met. Collaboration with other departments is critical to ensure smooth material flow, inventory, and production.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read work orders, production schedules, and reports.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Ability to balance efficiency with quality and meet production deadlines.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Work is on site in Sheridan, WY.
  • Pre-employment testing includes drug and alcohol testing, physical requirements, and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months to one year of related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP or MES systems and lean manufacturing principles a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise stock manufacturing operations including sanding, blemish repair, curing, and 3DHex Recoil Pad installation.
  • Set schedules, assign work, and manage throughput to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost KPIs.
  • Inspect stocks post-coating and curing to ensure Weatherby quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records in ERP/MES systems and spreadsheets.
  • Coach, train, and evaluate employees to build skills and improve performance.
  • Promote a clean, safe, and organized work environment while enforcing safety procedures.
  • Oversee safety protocols, including respirator use and incident reporting.
  • Coordinate with procurement and warehousing to ensure material availability.
  • Facilitate solutions for production issues and implement process improvements.
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure smooth product flow and timely delivery.
  • Perform hands-on manufacturing tasks when needed to support the team.
  • Create a safe, productive environment and support the well-being of their team including awareness, training, and education related to safety and substance use.
  • Lead with professionalism, integrity, and clear communication. Set the tone through example and effective feedback. Respond to employee questions, concerns, and resource needs. Ensure the well-being of your team and a safe, respectful, and well-maintained working environment.
  • Supervise daily work schedules, job assignments, and flow to meet goals; review data to assess progress and prioritize tasks; pioneer new ways to do things better.
  • Coach, develop, and evaluate team members per HR policies and employment laws. Manage employee time and attendance, including PTO requests. Participate in interviews, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions if necessary.
