About The Position

Under directive supervision, the Stock Handler receives, documents, handles, and stores incoming shipments of materials and supplies, including quality control and other receipt inspections. This role assembles material for jobs or for transfer to other Storerooms, and prepares outgoing materials, arranging for shipments. The Stock Handler accepts material returns and sorts them for stock or salvage. Responsibilities also include performing inventories, reviewing stock levels and obsolescence, and driving/operating Stores equipment such as forklifts and Stores trucks. Clerical duties within the Stores department are also part of the role, along with performing related or less skilled work as required.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience in related utility operations or the equivalent.
  • Must be able to perform semi-routine operations of considerable complexity and variety where standard methods of procedure are available.
  • Equivalent to four years of high school.
  • Must acquire a working knowledge of related stock symbol system, company accounting and purchasing procedures, and computer terminal operations.
  • Must be familiar with the Company's Safety Rules, approved methods of resuscitation and be able to render practical First Aid.
  • Must be able to qualify for required licenses.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the Stores Department is desirable.
  • Prefer someone already having such knowledge (working knowledge of related stock symbol system, company accounting and purchasing procedures, and computer terminal operations).

  • Performs Stores clerical duties as required.
  • Performs related or less skilled work as required.
