About The Position

Servtech is seeking Stock Handlers to be responsible for manually placing items that are being sold in commissaries onto the appropriate display areas, including shelves, stand-alone displays, and freezer sections and coolers. The role requires meeting stocking standards of 45 cases per hour for Dry goods and 40 cases per hour for chill and frozen. Failure to uphold these standards may result in disciplinary action or termination. The position involves cleaning shelf areas, transporting merchandise using hand pallet jacks, item stocking, facing and fronting merchandise, and adhering to First-In First-Out (FIFO) principles. Damaged merchandise will be segregated, and cardboard will be broken down and placed in designated bins. Stock Handlers must also manage and remove excess merchandise from shelves.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • Ability to stock the standard number of cases per hour: 45 cases per hour for Dry goods and 40 cases per hour for chill and frozen.
  • Ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • Ability to occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to reach from 6-72 inches.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color, and depth perception.
  • Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Clean all shelf areas in their sections prior to stocking, including NIS areas, shelf moldings, and ESL labels, ensuring they are free of dust, tape, spills, and adhesive backing.
  • Transport merchandise from the staging area to the appropriate store aisle location using hand pallet jacks.
  • Pull cases from pallets and stack them on the floor in front of the proper shelf location or commodity.
  • Item stock all merchandise unless authorization for dump or bulk stocking is given.
  • Stock all items in the allocated shelf space in accordance with the number of facings identified by the shelf label.
  • Face and front all stocked merchandise.
  • Rotate merchandise according to First-In First-Out (FIFO), by month and year of expiration date, except for baby formula which is rotated by day.
  • Take care not to damage commissary merchandise; repair loose labels with tape and stock.
  • Segregate damaged merchandise by food and non-food categories and place into carts for disposition.
  • Break down generated cardboard and place it in designated cardboard bins.
  • Place all merchandise from pallets onto the floor to the right of its designated shelf placement.
  • Cut open boxes using issued box cutters and stock merchandise to the shelf, abiding by safety procedures.
  • Load onto pallets all cases of merchandise that cannot fit on the allocated shelf space and place these at the ends of aisles for counting and return to the warehouse.
