About The Position

The Stock Clerk / OR Attendant provides essential non-clinical support to the surgical center by maintaining the efficient flow, stocking, organization, and disposal of supplies and materials throughout the facility. The primary function of this position is to receive and unpack deliveries, stock supplies in designated areas, maintain organized supply and storage locations, remove cardboard and general waste, and provide routine supply support to the Operating Room and Preop/PACU departments. This position performs scheduled rounds throughout the workday to proactively identify stocking, supply, and waste-removal needs and is expected to complete assigned responsibilities independently and without repeated prompting. The Stock Clerk/Operating Room Attendant works closely with Materials Management and clinical departments to help ensure supplies are readily available, work areas remain organized and free of unnecessary clutter, and the surgical center maintains a safe, clean, and efficient environment for patient care.

Requirements

  • Receive deliveries and assist with unloading supplies as needed.
  • Unbox delivered supplies and remove external shipping materials before supplies are moved into designated clean/clinical storage areas.
  • Verify items are delivered to the appropriate department or storage location.
  • Stock supplies in designated locations throughout the OR, Preop/PACU, and other assigned areas.
  • Rotate stock using first-expire, first-out (FEFO) practices when applicable.
  • Maintain organized, neat, and accessible supply areas.
  • Notify Materials Management of low stock, damaged products, incorrect deliveries, or other supply concerns.
  • Assist with routine inventory counts and physical inventory as assigned.
  • Assist with labeling and organization of carts, shelves, bins, and supply locations.
  • Break down cardboard boxes promptly after deliveries are unpacked.
  • Transport cardboard to the designated recycling or disposal area.
  • Collect and transport general trash from the OR and Preop/PACU to the facility dumpster at designated times and as needed.
  • Replace trash liners as assigned.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving, loading, cardboard, and waste-holding areas.
  • Follow facility procedures for handling regular waste and ensure regulated medical/biohazardous waste is handled only according to established policy.
  • Keep hallways, exits, receiving areas, and supply pathways free of boxes, trash, and other obstructions.
  • Assist with restocking OR supplies between cases and at the beginning/end of the workday.
  • Replenish commonly used supplies in OR rooms, cores, and designated storage areas.
  • Transport unopened supplies and equipment to appropriate areas when requested.
  • Assist OR staff with non-clinical room preparation and supply needs.
  • Remove general waste and soiled linen from designated areas according to facility procedure.
  • Assist with maintaining orderly OR hallways, supply areas, and equipment storage locations.
  • Respond promptly to requests for supplies or other non-clinical support during operating hours.
  • Restock designated supplies in Preop and PACU.
  • Transport general trash to the designated disposal location.
  • Remove cardboard and packaging materials from supply areas.
  • Assist with maintaining clean, uncluttered supply and storage areas.
  • Retrieve and deliver supplies as requested by Preop/PACU staff.
  • Follow infection prevention practices when moving supplies between receiving, storage, and patient-care areas.
  • Perform hand hygiene and use appropriate PPE based on assigned duties.
  • Maintain separation of clean supplies from trash, soiled items, cardboard, and other potentially contaminated materials.
  • Follow OSHA, infection prevention, fire/life safety, and facility waste-management requirements.
  • Immediately report spills, damaged products, leaking waste, safety hazards, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Follow facility policies regarding restricted areas and appropriate attire/PPE when entering the surgical suite.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Complete assigned daily stocking, trash, cardboard, and supply-area rounds.
  • Communicate supply shortages and operational concerns to Materials Management and/or department leadership.
  • Assist Materials Management, OR, Preop/PACU, and SPD with appropriate non-clinical support duties as assigned.
  • Participate in orientation, annual education, safety training, infection prevention training, and required competencies.
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as assigned by facility leadership.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate supply inventory
