About The Position

The Steward position plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of kitchen operations within the Delicatessen section. Primary responsibilities will be to ensure the sanitation of kitchen facilities, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment. This position can also assist with the proper storage of food items, disposal of waste, and adherence to health and safety standards.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • knowledge of basic cooking methods preferred
  • minimum 3 months experience in kitchen preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business data and effectively respond to the data.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, customers, employees, or others involved or associated in the warehouse section function.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts relevant to the role such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • A valid health certificate or ability to obtain a certification is required for this position.
  • Ability to interpret and comply with variety of instructions.
  • Knowledge and ability to maintain Health code standards.
  • The employee will also lift, push, pull, and/or carry 50 pounds or more.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate dishwashing machine and wash any items not dishwasher safe by hand.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing: wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment, and surfaces to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Waste management: properly dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables, and maintain cleanliness of waste areas.
  • Organization: Assist in organizing kitchen storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage, ensuring that all items are properly labeled and stored.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Provide general support to chefs and kitchen staff as needed, including basic food preparation tasks.
  • Interact in courteous and professional manner with all staff and guest of the delicatessen.
  • Other duties as assigned or instructed by management.
