The Steward is responsible for operating and maintaining various cleaning equipment and tools, including dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. Key duties involve washing and disinfecting kitchen and storeroom areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. The role also includes receiving deliveries, properly storing perishables, rotating stock, and ensuring clean wares are stored in appropriate areas. Stewards use detergents, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals for dish cleaning, inspect and sort cleaned items, and re-scrub/re-wash soiled items as needed. Additional responsibilities include racking and spraying items, sorting and washing silverware, breaking down bus tubs, managing trashcans and dumpster areas, cleaning and mopping assigned departments, and handling glass and cardboard recycling. The position requires adherence to company, safety, and security policies, reporting maintenance needs and unsafe conditions, completing safety training, protecting company assets, and maintaining professional communication and positive working relationships to support team goals and quality standards. Physical demands include the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects up to 50 pounds, stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, and perform various movements such as reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
