About The Position

The Dental Sterilization Technician (DST) plays a key role in supporting the dental team by ensuring that all instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for use. Working closely with dentists and dental assistants, the DST helps optimize workflow to ensure patients receive high-quality care. The position requires adherence to OSHA standards, departmental policies, and infection control procedures. The DST must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as protective eyewear, masks, and utility gloves when handling hazardous materials.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
AHA CPR-BLS required
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced dental team environment.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and professional workspace

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in a dental or healthcare setting preferred
Knowledge of infection control and sterilization practices preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform all duties with excellence and in accordance with Park West Health System Dental Division best practices.
Properly sterilize all dental instruments and equipment in compliance with department and OSHA standards.
Complete daily opening, closing, and sterilization procedures as directed by the Lead Registered Dental Assistant.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of sterilization equipment, including autoclaves, and maintain accurate logs.
Conduct weekly spore testing and maintain documentation of results.
Maintain order and cleanliness in the dental lab and sterilization areas.
Restock and maintain an adequate supply of dental instruments and materials; communicate needs for replenishment or replacement to the Lead Registered Dental Assistant.
Track incoming and outgoing dental laboratory orders and coordinate with the receptionist to ensure timely processing.
Prepare operatory rooms for patient care to maintain aseptic conditions and optimize patient safety.
Assemble pre-set trays in anticipation of scheduled treatments and proactively ensure all required materials are ready.
Assist clinical staff in maintaining patient flow and operational efficiency.
Provides courteous, responsive, and service-oriented support to patients, visitors, and colleagues.
Promotes a respectful and welcoming environment, communicates clearly, and works collaboratively to support team and organizational goals.
