About The Position

Oral Surgery of Tidewater is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Sterilization Tech to join their team. The Sterilization Tech will be responsible for ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained to meet the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. This role supports the oral surgeon before and after each dental procedure, involving preparing surgical equipment, tending to patients, and monitoring/replenishing dental supplies. The company is looking for a diligent individual who is highly organized and attentive to patients' needs, with an excellent understanding of oral surgery procedures and exceptional hand-eye coordination. They are willing to train individuals with little experience as a medical assistant or dental assistant.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Willingness to learn Front or Back-Office
• Sound knowledge of how to use surgical equipment, instruments, and materials.
• Great organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances.
• Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude.
• Must be able to stand up to 80% of the time at minimum.
• Physical requirements include driving, flying, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

• Dental Assisting experience preferred, not required.
• Medical Assisting experience preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, charting and filing.
• Prepare patient charts, record treatment plans, and update dental records.
• Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, materials, and equipment in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols.
• Assist the surgeon with operatory setup and cleanup.
• Provide patients with information on oral health care, treatment plans, and postoperative outcomes.
• Monitor stock of surgical supplies, medication, and replenish as needed.
• Ensure that instruments and equipment are effectively maintained.
• Provide excellent patient care.
