Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Current CPR certification and capable of initiating cardio-pulmonary resuscitation in times of emergency
Knowledge of principles of sterile technique
Excellent Communication Skills
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

Sterilizing instruments, supplies, and wrapping/storing these items until ready for use.
Distributing supplies, instruments, and equipment used in patient care.
Cleaning rooms ensuring a sterile atmosphere for surgery and patient care.
Assembling both sterile and nonsterile equipment, as well as checking and adjusting it to ensure that it is working properly.
Monitoring recovery rooms.
Changing gauze after the patient's procedure.
Going over post-operative instructions with patient and driver.
Escorting the patient to their vehicles (if needed).
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Familiar with surgical instrumentation and set preparation.
Familiar with running autoclave.
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in a Surgery Center.
Performs a variety of tasks related to set preparation.
Knowledge of aseptic/sterilization/disinfection techniques, procedures, supplies, and equipment.
Knowledge of what factors can violate the integrity of sterile package.
Communicates supply and equipment repairs to proper personnel.
Performs all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision.
