About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Director of Central Supply, the Sterile Supply Tech is responsible for the receiving, cleaning, decontaminating and sterilizing reusable patient care equipment, instrumentation and supplies. The Sterile Supply tech disassembles inspects, inventories and assembles both surgical and house instrumentation and procedural trays and maintains adequate inventory levels for all surgical/house instrumentation/trays and supplies. The position also assembles surgical case carts as required and records and maintains required sterilization records. Serves as technical contact person for questions concerning decontamination and sterilization. The Sterile Supply tech may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or MCHD proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The Sterile Supply tech is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The Sterile Supply Technician is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Martin County Hospital.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiar with sterile technique and application.
  • Knowledge of supplies and inventory systems.
  • Operating personal computers.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion or enrollment of the IAHCSMM certification course/CRCST preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years prior experience in material management.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, cleaning, decontaminating and sterilizing reusable patient care equipment, instrumentation and supplies.
