Sterile Processing Trainee Mid Shift
About The Position
MU Healthcare is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Sterile Processing Trainee to help maintain cleanliness and safety standards for surgical instruments and support patient care. The role involves processing patient-care equipment and instrumentation in a fast-paced environment while following established standards and procedures and providing service to internal customers. The position is onsite at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with rotation to weekends and holidays. Orientation lasts 12 weeks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Obtain Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification through HSPA within one year of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Responsibilities
- Disassemble, clean, assemble, and test patient-care equipment for proper functioning, then route cleaned equipment to appropriate holding areas.
- Perform and participate in decontamination and cleaning of instrumentation and equipment received from all units, following established standards and procedures.
- Operate washers and cleaners and manually clean instruments and equipment according to established standards and procedures.
- Prepare case carts and trays for decontamination and load them into washers or sterilizers as prescribed by procedure.
- Use chemicals appropriately, taking into account their intended use and function, and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Use computers to log trays, equipment, and case carts.
- Complete unit- or department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
