About The Position

This position decontaminates and sterilizes surgical instruments for use in the assigned area(s). Assembles surgical trays and tracks and maintains the total inventory of instruments and implants. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our surgical and procedural teams through the decontamination, sterilization, inspection, assembly, and distribution of surgical instruments and trays. Your work directly contributes to safe patient care and successful surgical outcomes every single day. This is an active, fast-paced role that combines technical skill, attention to detail, teamwork, and physical movement throughout the shift.

Requirements

  • Previous sterile processing or healthcare experience is preferred, but not required. We welcome motivated individuals who are eager to learn and grow in healthcare.
  • Candidates will be expected to obtain at least one of the following certifications within two years of hire: International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM/HSPA) Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite and learning additional software as needed

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to strict department and regulatory standards.
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure instruments are safe, functional, and surgery-ready.
  • Assemble surgical trays and instrument sets with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Wrap, label, and prepare trays and equipment for sterilization and transport.
  • Maintain organized inventory of instruments, implants, and supplies.
  • Communicate shortages, equipment concerns, or damaged instruments to the appropriate teams.
  • Work closely with surgical staff and healthcare teams to ensure instruments and supplies are available when needed.
  • Help maintain efficient workflow in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
