About The Position

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for ensuring patient care and surgical supplies, equipment, and instruments are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked in a quality and timely manner throughout the health system.

Requirements

• Must be currently in an Associates Program in Surgical Technology.
• Must have knowledge of medical terminology
• Must have strong communication and computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of 12 months experience in Sterile Processing and /or Central Distribution is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring patient care and surgical supplies, equipment, and instruments are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked in quality and timely manner throughout the health system.
• Follows all standard operating procedures (SOP) and policies and Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines.
• Able to recognize potential and actual processing errors and follow-up according to procedure or management instruction.
• Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner and maintains continuity in work flow.
• Utilizes applicable inventory systems in use.
