About The Position
The Sterile Processing Technician organizes, directs, and performs activities related to cleaning, sterilizing, storing, maintenance and distribution of equipment and instruments in the Sterile Processing Department.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Computer skills required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (including, but not limited to, Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Ability to learn Cerner, IDX, and other applicable hospital-based programs as they pertain to the required job duties
- Sight, speech and hearing are a must.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in Sterile Processing and/or Instrumentation Room training helpful
- Medical terminology helpful
Responsibilities
- Process and package instruments and instrument sets to be used in surgical procedures
- Properly package and load items on the carriage for sterilization
- Store, issue, and track equipment; this includes delivery and pick up from various departments
- Operate, monitor, and exchange the Detergent Management System
- Operate all SPD equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with sterilizers
- Properly test equipment and document following sterility assurance guidelines
- All other assigned related duties
