The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for ensuring patient care and surgical supplies, equipment, and instruments are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked in a quality and timely manner throughout the health system.

Requirements

  • Must be currently in an Associates Program in Surgical Technology
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology
  • Must have strong communication and computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 12 months experience in Sterile Processing and /or Central Distribution is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient care and surgical supplies, equipment, and instruments are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked in quality and timely manner throughout the health system
  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOP) and policies and Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines
  • Recognize potential and actual processing errors and follow-up according to procedure or management instruction
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and maintain continuity in work flow
  • Utilize applicable inventory systems in use
