About The Position

Firelands Health is seeking a full-time Sterile Processing Technician to join their team. This role is responsible for maintaining adequate supplies on patient units, processing instruments and supplies through cleaning, packaging, sterilizing, and storing them according to established procedures. The technician will also manage inventory, ensure equipment is maintained, and document any loss of equipment, instruments, or supplies. The position is located in Sandusky, a coastal town on Lake Erie, and offers a supportive, employee-centric work environment.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
If not currently certified, must successfully complete an approved sterile processing certification program within two years of hire date in department. Certification must be kept current.
Must have multi-tasking and advanced critical thinking skills, and the ability to maintain these characteristics when working alone.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
Ability to keep orderly records.
Ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively in both written and oral forms.

Responsibilities

Maintains a sufficient amount of supplies on patient units and distributes supplies to units when requested (including STAT requests).
Processes instruments and supplies by cleaning, packaging, sterilizing and storing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Checks for outdated supplies, rotates supplies and assists in keeping a clean and orderly department by putting supplies away correctly.
Checks specialty carts and follows up on patient charge compliance.
Maintains equipment for patient care. Documents loss of equipment, instruments, and/or supplies.
