About The Position

This unique paid training opportunity allows participants to complete the required 400 clinical hours while working alongside experienced Sterile Processing professionals in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Participants will gain valuable hands-on experience, build technical skills, support exceptional patient care, and contribute to life-saving work behind the scenes, all while being paid and receiving full-time benefits. This role is for individuals who have completed a Sterile Processing Program and obtained their Provisional CRCST certification, and are looking for an opportunity to gain the hands-on clinical experience needed to earn their full Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) credential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Program required.
  • Provisional CRCST certification required.
  • Must be seeking completion of the required 400 clinical hours needed to obtain full CRCST certification.
  • Demonstrated interest in Sterile Processing and commitment to quality, safety, and infection prevention practices.
  • Basic knowledge of sterile processing principles, medical instrumentation, and healthcare infection prevention standards.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all classwork and assignments while demonstrating active participation and engagement.
  • Successfully complete learning modules and maintain attendance requirements.
  • Participate in precepted learning experiences across all Sterile Processing areas.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique and sterilization principles.
  • Perform instrument decontamination procedures according to established standards.
  • Operate cleaning and sterilization equipment safely and effectively.
  • Identify surgical instruments and demonstrate understanding of their use and maintenance.
  • Assemble instrument trays according to established configuration and count requirements.
  • Utilize biological indicators and adhere to sterilization quality control standards.
  • Wrap, package, and label items appropriately for steam, Sterrad, and gas sterilization.
  • Assemble surgical case carts using designated picklists.
  • Accurately document activities within the electronic instrument tracking system.
