About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure a continuous flow of sterile/reusable supplies, equipment, and surgical instrumentation. This role involves centralized collection, inspection, decontamination, assembly, preparation, disinfection, sterilization, and monitoring of these items for hospital areas. The technician will work with occasional guidance, adhering to regulatory guidelines and hospital policies and procedures. The shift for this position is 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association
  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician - The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc

Responsibilities

  • Maintains work environment in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.
  • Receives and inventories departmental supplies, instrumentation, and equipment.
  • Receives, cleans, and decontaminates instrumentation and equipment according to Manufacturer Instructions for Use (MIFU) and departmental policies.
  • Scans instrumentation and assembles according to prescribed procedures and techniques.
  • Prepares instrumentation and equipment according to recommended procedures and techniques in preparation for sterilization.
  • Performs, documents, and monitors all quality control tools.
  • Operates all departmental equipment safely and effectively.
