Sterile Processing Technician
About The Position
The Sterile Processing Technician inspects, assembles and evaluates all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure proper sterilization, completeness of set, and to determine need for repair/replacement. This role involves performing decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to established protocols. The technician is responsible for inspecting instruments, equipment and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning, and correcting instrument sets according to current standards and established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems. Maintaining proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts is also a key aspect of the position, all while working in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
- No experience required
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) - The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
Responsibilities
