About The Position

This position is responsible for the processing, sterilization, and documentation related to the sterility of patient care supplies, instruments, and equipment used throughout the hospital in accordance with the AORN Standards of Practice. The technician will prepare and assemble instrument sets and surgery trays using count sheets, and verify the proper function and integrity of instruments. This role requires efficient and quality execution of instrumentation that is directly related to patient safety and department efficiencies. Familiarity with AAMI, Joint Commission, and APIC standards related to infection control is expected.

Requirements

• 1 year of applicable experience.
• Familiarity with AAMI, Joint Commission, and APIC standards related to infection control.

Responsibilities

• Processing, sterilization, and documentation of patient care supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Preparation and assembly of instrument sets and surgery trays using count sheets.
• Verification of proper function and integrity of instruments.
• Correct labeling of instruments and returning them to their proper location.
