About The Position

The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Technician is responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilizing surgical instruments. This role also involves prepping and packing surgical case carts, receiving, storing, and distributing supplies and equipment, and performing data entry and inventory control. The technician will be a team player capable of working in any area of SPD.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Central Service or Instrument Tech certification/program, OR a Surgical Tech program graduate, OR 5+ years of hands-on instrument tech experience in the Operating Room.
  • Proficiency with sterilizer equipment and processes.
  • Comfortable with computers and data input.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Friendly, helpful, and good interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of SPD experience.
  • Current employee at University Health or University Health Physicians.
  • Experience at TMC.
