About The Position

The Sterile Processing Technician at WI-SSM Health Outpatient Center-Madison is responsible for inspecting, assembling, and evaluating all surgical instruments and instrument sets. This ensures proper sterilization, completeness of the set, and identifies any need for repair or replacement. The role involves performing decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to established protocols. Technicians must inspect instruments and equipment for cleanliness and proper functioning, correct instrument sets based on current standards and tracking systems, and maintain proper inventory levels to ensure availability for case carts. The position requires working in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Requirements

• High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
• No experience required

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to established protocols.
• Inspects instruments, equipment and containers to assure cleanliness and proper functioning.
• Corrects instrument sets according to current standards and established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
• Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
