About The Position

The Sterile Processing Technician organizes, directs, and performs activities related to cleaning, sterilizing, storing, maintenance and distribution of equipment and instruments in the Sterile Processing Department. This role is Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 11:00pm.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Computer skills required
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (including, but not limited to, Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
• Ability to learn Cerner, IDX, and other applicable hospital-based programs as they pertain to the required job duties
• Walking and standing most of the time on duty
• Occasionally required to push or pull carts weighing as much as 100 pounds
• Occasionally required to lift items as heavy as 50 pounds
• Frequent reaching and bending required
• Frequent handling of instruments is necessary
• Sight, speech and hearing are a must

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Sterile Processing and/or Instrumentation Room training helpful
• Medical terminology helpful

Responsibilities

• Process and package instruments and instrument sets to be used in surgical procedures
• Properly package and load items on the carriage for sterilization
• Store, issue, and track equipment; this includes delivery and pick up from various departments
• Operate, monitor, and exchange the Detergent Management System
• Operate all SPD equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems with sterilizers
• Properly test equipment and document following sterility assurance guidelines
• All other assigned related duties
