Sterile Processing Tech
About The Position
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, processing, and sterilizing supplies and equipment for West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital and its community clinics, following the hospital’s infection control practices. The position works under the guidance and direction of the Surgical Services Supervisor. The role involves potential contact with communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, and hazardous materials, and may involve increased stress. The technician must be able to walk three miles per shift and perform the listed physical activities at the specified frequencies.
Requirements
- High school education or GED.
- Health-related experience and knowledge of medical terminology are preferred; minimal one-year experience is specified.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to walk three miles per shift.
- Ability to sit, kneel, reach overhead, lift heavy items (25–50 lbs. or more), carry, push for 100 feet, and pull for 100 feet occasionally (0–33% of the working day).
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and lift light items (0–25 lbs.) frequently (33–66% of the working day).
Nice To Haves
- Health-related experience and knowledge of medical terminology; minimal one-year experience is specified.
