Sterile Processing Technician (Full Time/Second Shift)

About The Position
The Sterile Processing Technician collects, cleans, decontaminates, disinfects, and sterilizes surgical instruments, instrument trays, packs, reusable medical devices, and patient care equipment. The position helps ensure the availability of safe, sterile, and properly functioning supplies and equipment for patient care by following established infection prevention standards, regulatory requirements, and departmental procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.
- Hold one of the following: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM; Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from CBSPD; or an equivalent certification from a nationally accredited central service technician credentialing organization recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
- Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
Responsibilities
- Collect surgical instruments, instrument trays, packs, reusable medical devices, and patient care equipment.
- Clean, decontaminate, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments, instrument trays, packs, reusable medical devices, and patient care equipment.
- Ensure supplies and equipment are safe, sterile, and properly functioning for patient care.
- Follow infection prevention standards, regulatory requirements, and departmental procedures.
