About The Position

This is a full-time, day-shift position working Mon-Fri from 8am-4:30pm with rotating weekend and holiday call coverage from 7am-7pm. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to lift up to a 50-pound instrument tray, and involves cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments after use. Sterile Processing experience is highly preferred, and certification is not required but expected within one year of being hired. The technician will inspect, assemble, and evaluate all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure proper sterilization, completeness of set, and to determine the need for repair/replacement.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching and gripping.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Rare crawling, sitting and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Certification is expected within one year of being hired.

Nice To Haves

  • Sterile Processing experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to established protocols.
  • Inspects instruments, equipment and containers to assure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Corrects instrument sets according to current standards and established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
  • Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
