About The Position

This position is responsible for receiving, reprocessing, and distributing clean and sterile supplies, as well as the cleaning and maintenance of CPR carts and isolation cabinets. The role involves operating departmental equipment, performing maintenance, and handling clerical duties. The technician will demonstrate knowledge of instrumentation and products for various hospital departments, prepare special items, trays, and packs, and prepare case carts for the Operating Room. Key duties include decontamination, preparation, sterilization/disinfection, and dispatch of instruments, equipment, and supplies for multiple hospital areas, along with maintaining knowledge of sterilization techniques.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Certified Registered Central Service Technician, or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management certification is required. New employees will have 18 months from the date of hire to obtain the required certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of healthcare experience or currently enrolled in an Accredited Surgical Technician/Sterile Processing Program, Preferred.
  • Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and restocks CPR carts.
  • Performs all duties according to department policies and procedures.
  • Operates all departmental equipment and performs operator maintenance.
  • Performs all assigned clerical duties, such as answering the telephone, recording messages, and maintaining records.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and working order for the Operating Room, OB, and other departments.
  • Maintains working knowledge of all products in stock and their appropriate locations.
  • Prepares and assembles special items, trays, and packs to meet the stated needs of all hospital departments.
  • Prepares case carts for the Operating Room.
  • Performs all duties related to decontamination, preparation, sterilization/disinfection, and dispatch of instruments, equipment, and supplies for the Operating Room, OB, Cardiology, ED/Trauma, and Nursing and ancillary departments.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of sterilization techniques.

Benefits

  • Eligible new hires may receive up to $5,000 in sign-on bonuses over two years—$5,000 for certified technicians, or $2,500 for non-certified technicians, with an additional $2,500 awarded upon certification.
