The Sterile Processing Technician retrieves, decontaminates, cleans, assembles, processes, sterilizes, stores and distributes medical devices, equipment, procedure trays and supplies used in the care of patients. On-the-Job training includes a concentrated orientation period with a minimum duration of eight weeks, which may extend depending on the candidate's learning pace and confidence. Training hours will vary, as the candidate is required to gain comprehensive exposure to all departmental operations, including both opening and closing procedures. This may involve rotating through different shifts to ensure a full understanding of daily workflows and responsibilities across the department.
