Sterile Processing Technician, Lead - Evenings
About The Position
The Lead Sterile Processing Technician organizes, directs, and performs activities related to cleaning, sterilizing, storing, maintenance and distribution of equipment and instruments in the Sterile Processing Department on all shifts. This role is responsible for daily assignments that may include properly testing equipment and documenting according to sterility assurance guidelines, processing and packaging instruments, operating and monitoring SPD equipment, and troubleshooting issues. The position requires interaction with various hospital departments and involves working in an environment with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and high temperatures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years of experience in Sterile Processing and/or Instrumentation Room
- CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Tech, OR CSPDT – Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Tech, OR Certified Surgical Tech with the expectation of receiving either CRCST or CSPDT within the first twelve months of hire.
- Computer literate; Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications
- Sight, speech and hearing are a must.

Responsibilities
- Properly test equipment and document following sterility assurance guidelines
- Reports to SPD Management any issues stemming on all shifts
- Process and package instruments and instrument sets to be used in surgical procedures
- Properly package and load items on the carriage for sterilization
- Store, issue, and track equipment; this includes delivery and pick up from various departments
- Operate, monitor, and exchange the Detergent Management System
- Operate all SPD equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with SPD equipment
- All other assigned related duties
