About The Position

Competently performs standardized instrument processing and decontamination to prevent the spread of infection, illness or disease. Works independently, exercising sound judgment to support the functionality of the department by disinfecting and distributing supplies and performing equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as needed. Integrates education and technical competence to execute safe and precise sterilization procedures. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety to help deliver optimal patient care.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) OR Sterile Processing Certification (CRCST / CBSPDT)
  • 1-year recent relevant experience.
  • General knowledge of surgical tools, procedures, views, and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline.
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with instrument tracking software; preferably Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM).
  • Ability to perform basic computer troubleshooting, such as checking connections and restarting a device.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications; experience with Excel spreadsheets preferred.
  • Dependable attendance and flexibility to support changing department needs.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with teammates, OR, GI and other departments.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new workflows and help establish processes at a new facility.
